Add Your Voice - Ask Fractal Audio Systems® to Add GK-based Amps to the Axe FX

As a massive Fractal Audio fan, I jump at every opportunity to utilize their products. Their gear has just about everything a guitar and bass player could ever need: state of the art effects, loads of routing options, and the best amp modelling available anywhere.

Still, there are some folks who wish there were more options specifically geared towards bass guitar players.

With that in mind, I'm asking you, the readers, to please consider visiting the Fractal Audio Forum and adding a "Plus 1" to my Wish List request asking Fractal Audio to add new amp models based on Gallien Krueger’s now-discontinued flagship head: the 2001RB.

Adding an amp model based on channel A of the 2001RB would help fulfil many other requests from Fractal community members for amp models based on certain GK heads (the 800RB for example) because channel A was specifically designed to replicate those amps. Adding a model based on channel B would provide a unique overdrive circuit for bass players to use and complete the package.

Though Fractal Audio's primary focus is on modelling tube-based amps, there is precedence for adding a solid state amp (a model based on the Roland Jazz Chorus was already added to the lineup, for example).

Some say it’s easy enough to replicate the sound of any amp with what’s already available in Fractal products, but there are two important things that cannot be done properly, in my opinion, with the current available tools: the active EQ section, and the additional FET gain stage or “boost” before the power amp.

Adding these amp models would also help to preserve an iconic bass amplifier that is no longer being manufactured.

Disclaimer: This push for a new bass amp is being promoted by me for fun and in good faith. I strongly discourage anyone from logging onto the form or contacting Fractal Audio simply to complain or make nasty comments. Please have some self-control online.
